Misdemeanors



There are four classes of misdemeanors: 1-4. Class 1 misdemeanors carry the strictest penalties and class 4 misdemeanors carry the least strict. Below are listed the maximum possible penalties for the four classes of misdemeanor charges.

Class 1 misdemeanors carry a maximum potential jail sentence of one year and a maximum potential fine of $2,500.

Class 2 misdemeanors carry a maximum potential jail sentence of six months and a maximum potential fine of $1,000.

Class 3 and 4 misdemeanors do not carry jail sentences: they are punishable with fines only.

Class 3 misdemeanors maximum potential fine: $500

Class 4 misdemeanors maximum potential fine: $250
